WilliamBates(1860-1931) is a famous ophthalmologist in the United States .He detect some strange phenomenon at work,for example, he detect the people's sight is unsteady, or I can say the dioptre is varying, furthermore some people's refractive error can recover automatically, these can't be explained with tradition ophthalmology theories.

Hence, he abandonned tradition ophthalmology theories,began to research sight from the angle of nature therapy completely.He detected that the sight problems is caused by eyeball strain, the methods that use to relax eyeball can make refractive error recovered, thereby can take off glasses,recover sight.

He found out a series methods recovering sight which is called Bates method.
